The backlighting is very effective.

I like this shot, and the backlighting works really well, however the blue light doesn't quite do it for me. It would be interesting to see a shot without the blue light.

I'm not sure where the blue came from to be honest. The back light is a desk lamp (white) but everything else is natural daylight. I like the blue though

I do like it but the light trails off a little too much at the bottom for me.
As for the blue, I suspect that the shot is balanced for the yellowy/orange of the desk lamp, compared to which, daylight is very blue.

Cracking shot Ribby, however I agree regarding the darker bottom half. If you cropped just the top half of the photo, I think you have a winner with a much stonger composition as well.

I took a shot that looks remarkably similar to the top half of this one last week (it seems to have vanished from my gallery, I'll upload it again).
What some people seem to be missing is that I've captured perfectly an horticultural explosion of emotion. Quite clearly the top flower is happy and the bottom one is sad! Can't you see the contrast? Don't they teach you anything at photo school these days??

I really like it apart from the stalk top right. I'd have been tempted to try to clone in a couple of extra petals maybe

Lovely! I'd just touch out that bit of stalk at top right and the bit of vertical white leaf crossing it for a cleaner image.

Thanks everyone, as always. I agree about the stalk at the top right. It didn't bother me until you pointed it out (curse my untrained eyes!). I'll remove that when I get chance
