the fountain again
the same terracotta fountain frmo further away, this time i have removed all the hoses at the back and replaced them with trees, and I realise this may not be acceptable to record photographers but i think it looks much better.........

Re: the fountain again
Hi fi...
First thing that strikes me is the steps...they aint straight. I'd try and level out the horizon in PS using the lens correction filter thingy. I'm not sure if there's a better way of doing it though. I do like the sky and the abstract quality of the steps but for me the statue is too far away and lacking too much detail to be of interest. |

Re: the fountain again
Nice treatment here Fi, and I'll let you off from the central subject 'cos I know you were going for the symmetry. But the top of the tree line is smack on the 'bowl' of the fountain, so it is a bit lost there.
I think if you did a bit of digital lumberjacking it would be better, but it does need something there. Maybe a lower/higher tree line or a line of low shrubs? |

Re: the fountain again
Having never seen this fountain, only the previous picture, I have to say this is a big improvement. The 2 shots, however, seem to have different purposes. My impression was that the first was to show detail of the carvings and the second to place it within its environment. Both worthy purposes - just different. So, I don't see this shot as a substiture or redo of the first on.
That said, Fi you certainly have a deft touch with PS and did a very convincing job of replacing the BG. Well done. - Paul |

Re: the fountain again
If you straighten the steps, won't the fountain lean to the right?
Or is there a way to do that so all is straight? And as always, good photoshopping with the trees. The level doesn't bother me, unless you already edited. skip |

Re: the fountain again
Are the hoses you removed from this photo seen with water droplets running down them in another? (tee hee). Oh sorry. That is a spelling comment, not a photo comment.
I'd love to see this once you've leveled the stairs. I'm a sucker for symmetry. |

Re: the fountain again
I think the transform/free transform and/or distort tools will do this Skip.

Re: the fountain again
I really like this one, has lots of drama and the colouring is great.
It needs straightening slightly though and it would benefit from a slight crop off the left to add more symmetry. I love the image though! |

Re: the fountain again
thanxs all...... as paul pointed out yes the two pictures were taken with two different purposes. whilst i would have liked to take this shot AND kept the amount of detail in the fountain, i was more interested in the while picture than losing the surrounding for the detail.
lol@ bonnies hoses comment......... lol but i think the trees need the water more ![]() and yes i shoud be able to straighten the steps without tilting the fountain ( i hope) lol Thanx again all always appreciated. Fi |
