Re: Green
Doesn't do much for me as is, I'm afraid. Maybe if there was a bright light shining through the green goo from behind giving resonance of what the bulb used to do?

Re: Green
Sorry, I don't get it either. It is just not saying anything to me. Why is a broken bulb sitting on a jar of green stuff? Why the green cast? It just doesn't make sense to me either emotionally, intellectually or as a composition.

Re: Green
What is says to me:
If the green jar represents being "green" (environmentally friendly) and the broken candesent bulb dosen't work if you are plugged into being "green". you should be using mini florescent bulbs... It needs some work though. |

Re: Green
I like the picture, the slight green tint works for me. Marks idea sounds good, Have always liked broken lights, and the whole filiment glow. It makes me think of something "lost" if that makes sense.

Re: Green
Thanx for all your comments. My idea behind this was the contrast between the broken lightbulb and the green( As green is a colour for life and growth). But thinking of it afterwards I see why tou interpret it in that way. And you know what they say, 20 poeple can look at the same photo and each of them can have their own idea about it, be it positive or negative.
The other reason for the green cast is so that the picture is green. As the title ilistrates that was the idea behind the picture. And as you mightve noticed in some of my other photos I find it hard to stick to the "rules" or rather norms of photography and the procesing of my photos. And the lost Idea I kindd of get. If your lost in darkness a working light mite be able to guide you? ![]() ![]() |

Re: Green
If I am honest, I don't think this picture looks anything like as deep or surreal as might have been intended. My first thought when I looked at it was that the taker had hunted around for something to sit the broken bulb in as it wouldn't stand up on its own. The first thing to hand of the right size was this pot and so it got used. No relationship whatsoever came across from viewing the picture. Sure, people can look at anything and come up with surreal ideas of what a picture means, millions have done just that looking at the Mona Lisa!
Sorry, doesn't really work for me. I am sure there is a better picture in there but it will need more expansive thinking to produce it. The bulb needs to be at more of an angle to make it more dynamic and the goo in the pot could be put to good use if poured around it or even as a pool for the bulb to sit in as the gunge released from its breaking.... the possibilities are endless :o) Cheers, Rob
