Re: Hampshire Countryside
A little rotation yes...and possibly a clone-out of the cyclist? I don't know if it's just my monitor but it looks a bit over-saturated to me Charlotte.

Re: Hampshire Countryside
Cyclist makes it for me. Great detail in the foreground. I do love the tones out of the D3

Re: Hampshire Countryside
Little rotation needed, but you've spotted that anyway. I also like the cyclist (well I would, wouldn't I
). Nice detail throughout the shot.

Re: Hampshire Countryside
I like this shot and have commented in the other thread, but being more picky here, I don't like the composition. I think the isolated section of road looks, well, isolated, and the hedgerows in this picture don't give a strong lead line or diagonal.
I don't know if there was anywhere you could have taken the picture form further to the RHS, but I'm wondering if there were other opportunities for a better composition. Overall, it looks a bit messy with the elements in the picture being disjointed. I wonder if there is another picture here cropping down from the top between the cyclist (sorry, Sarah) and the fence line? Would need a little tiding of the plants going out of shot, but might be worth considering.

Re: Hampshire Countryside
Think it's all a little "busy" and claustrophobic, tho' I like the cyclist detail!
![]() When I first saw the pic I wondered what was to the left. Now I know - and really like the comp (except maybe the letterbox aspect but maybe there was something intruding) ![]() Thought the sky was a little pale against those strong green and yellows + desaturated a touch |

Re: Hampshire Countryside
first shot somehow works for me. It is busy but it rests easy on my eyes. I like the cyclist and whole mood. My main nit would be the tad over saturated look

Re: Hampshire Countryside
THe other one is much better, and also this looks a touch oversat, but it could be the foreign monitor

Re: Hampshire Countryside
Thanks for your comments, observations + suggestions, all very useful, as always
I like the cyclist + think he's a key - and much needed (if rather small ) - focal point.Angela - you're right, it does look oversaturated. Graham - I agree with you about the comp. Between me + the FG that you see is a road - the same road that snakes up through the picture (although you can't see all of it). The road was quite busy (by countryside standards) + I had to keep dodging away from the road as traffic came through My car was parked to the L + behind with my little one asleep inside, so I could not move away from my viewpoint. I would've liked to get higher up, in order to get a complete view of the road, but this wasn't possible; pity 'cos it would've helped a lot.Mark - you confused me for a minute there, I thought I was in the wrong thread LOL. The letterbox shape on that one was 'necessary' to crop out a very blue but cloudless sky (the only clouds were the ones you see in the shot). You did a great job with the sky + got it a natural looking blue which definitely looks much better Jack - which "other one" do you mean
