Re: Hangmans Noose
Another nice texture shot. I think I would straighten that corner and make it vertical using skew. Do you think it would be a slight improvement to the mood if you toned down the bright white area a bit?

Re: Hangmans Noose
I think you've got a great shot there Fi but I think a bit more left at the bottom of the shot might give more of a feel for the function of the noose...if that's not being too gory!!

Re: Hangmans Noose
Excellent shot, wouldn't change a thing
In particular: Compo is very well balanced. I might have said you cropped a bit tightly on the top edge, but in this case I think the tight crop adds to the effect, i.e. pushes attention down to the actual noose. Very good creative exposure, 10/10 for that. In a shot like this, you don't want a technically 'correct' exposure at all, that would spoil the whole ambience of the scene. Here you've got areas of high contrast, which fits brilliantly with the subject matter, i.e. light/dark = life/death! You have clear detail in the rope only, i.e. the wall, rafters + pulley give way in favour of the rope, so that attention quickly falls squarely on the noose. I like that the corner of the wall is not vertical. The slight diagonal adds to the 'all is not square here!' message. This is excellent work Fiona, very well done indeed ![]()

Re: Hangmans Noose
Grim subject but I really like this shot. Excellent Mono conversion and great lighting.

Re: Hangmans Noose
Hi Fi
This shot has your name all over it. Very macabre ![]() The contrast fits the scene and feeling very well. A lovely (?) pic. Print only 1 and sell it for a ton of money. skip |
