Taken today at Harrington Marina in West Cumbria - first attempt at RAW and HDR editing!

I like the waves and the composition, using the groyne as a lead line. The thing that I don't like is the lens flare to the left of the sign. Lens flare can be quite attractive in a picture but only when we can see the source of light, here it looks more by accident than design and there is no strong light source within the frame which makes the lens flare intrusive.

I would also like to see the horizon either a touch lower or higher (preferably the latter) as it is going through the centre of the picture at the moment, acting as a dividing line so to speak.

You could definitely improve this pic though, you only need to clone out the lens flare and crop some of the sky in order to raise the horizon. Worth it as the rest of the picture has a lot going for it

I was just going to comment when I saw that Rob had got in first. I totally agree with him. That lens flare really should go and I would be inclined to loose a fraction of the waves at the bottom.

It might also look good in pure mono, and possibly with a much tighter crop focusing on the pylon and waves to the left. That depends on how much resolution you have to play with.

Many thanks for your constructive comments - I was aware of the lens flare, but wasn't sure of how to tackle it - and I will crop the sky. I do like the water bit though -

Nellie. I have just had a quick look at your camera gear page. Love the additional equipment you have available.

We need a smilie for "rolls on the floor laughing" or have I missed it.

Ive had a go at erasing the lens flare - and put it back in my members gallery. i know its not perfect but any tips would be gratefully received
