thats a lovely shot and her eyes are beautifully sharp and focussed........ one thing tho. i would be tempted to whiten her teeth a tad.

Great first go! I dunno what the teeth looked like before, but they certainly look good now!

Re: Here is firs shot at a portrait
You have a lovely face in the midst of a complex background that is competing. The slightly naff flowers above and right are distracting since they are past it. The other flowers are strong and may have been more co-ordinated if the girl had been interacting with them (cliche: smelling them).
It is a golden rule that you need to pay as much attention to the surroundings of a model as the model themselves. It is very easy to not be aware of the background OR to have the background too bold (as here). Have a close look at fashion/beauty pics in mags and you will usually see that the backgrounds are 'blown out' of focus with the use of a 300mm lens and f/8 for reduced DoF. This allows the model to come forward from the background. These are pointers/comments only, I think the girl's face shows you had a good rapport with her and you have timed the shot perfectly to capture that dazzling smile both on the lips and in the eyes (on many pro model shots they smile with their mouth but not with their eyes because their is no real rapport with the photographer). The soft lighting is perfect and her eyes are reflecting the surroundings great to bring out their colour. The slight tilt of the head adds greatly to the innocence and naturalness of the girl's expression. If you want to do a little trickery on the eyes, enlarge the pupils. This will make her appear even more beautiful if done well (don't use full black, try a very very dark green/grey, almost black). Lovely natural shot though, good 'un. Regards Les |

Re: Here is firs shot at a portrait
I agree with the points here. In addition, it appears to me as though you may have over sharpened a bit, which shows up in her teeth, the tops of her eyebrows and the bottom of her nose particularly.
If this young lady is family, take as many shots at different times as she will let you Your rapport with her is obvious.skip |
