Re: Heresssssss harold
There's no question that the close focusing is very good, you've done well there. It's just a shame that the BG is not a plain colour. Instead it is very busy and with all the busy-ness of this very hairy caterpillar plus the hairs on the skin, it all becomes a bit too much.
But remembering the positives, the focusing is excellent and it would all be an excellent image but for the BG. ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: Heresssssss harold

Re: Heresssssss harold
It would be perfectly possible to do using increased contrast and then selecting via the Color Range but not as a 72dpi jpeg image. I would certainly try it if I had a RAW version or at least a high resolution version of the picture as it is possible to select far greater shading then.
Having said that, I don't think there is a lot to be gained in this case as the only thing to then do would be to render a difference clouds BG which would look horribly false. Not saying Hairy Harry isn't worth the effort but as he has long since (presumably) changed into a butterfly, done the whole breeding thing and gone to the greater cocoon in the sky! If he was still around it would be a lovely image for him to show his grandchildren but as it is, time has moved on <g> I think I need a coffee... Rob

Lol, no I havn't this from you before Fi, he's certainly a cute little fella!!
As Rob has said it's a bit of a shame about the background, but detail, colour and sharpness are all good. Quote:

Re: Heresssssss harold
Hi Harold, cool shot Fiona. As for the background I usualy carry some A4 plain card with me to us as a background for this type of shot.

Re: Heresssssss harold
ROFL, Fiona encourages her son to give a caterpillar a name, gets him stroking it and 'bonding' with it and then tells the poor child 'Now I want you to stick your new buddy back in the grass so the birds can come and murder him and eat him for supper'. She drags the poor heartbroken child away as he contemplates the fact he will never see his new friend ever again this side of heaven....
.... AND SHE CALLS US BONKERS! Never mind Murray my little friend, we are simply on a higher plane together, your mother simply wouldn't understand
