Doesn't seem to be in focus, and the composition is off. Sorry but doesn't work for me at all.

As Tim said, the focus does appear to be out, and the composure isn't right somehow, would have been nice to see the front of the bike as it would close the image rather than lead you out of it. Also the boys seem to be staring at something really interesting that isn't your camera, and this is leaving me wondering what i am missing that is going on behind you.

Re: Hoi-An Boys at Covered Bridge

I am a bit confused as to why they are both looking somewhere off to your left. Were they being photographed by someone else at the same time so were looking in a different camera? Other than that and the focus, if it weren't for the front whell being cropped it would be a good record of the local culture and attire. I can't tell whether it is cold (woolly hat) or warm (sandals) but I am guessing the latter.

Anyway, shot still has interest to me, despite the issues mentioned. Did you get any others or just the one?

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Hoi-An Boys at Covered Bridge

This was the only image of these boys. I don't remember the specifics, but I don't think that there were others taking pictures. I rather think that these were two shy kids, not sure what to do in front of a camera, and so in that context, it makes the image a bit more interesting.

Re: Hoi-An Boys at Covered Bridge

Yup, I can see the reasoning there. I do find it an interesting shot even with its shortcomings as it is clearly culturally different. In a sense their looking the other way does add a certain disconnection in the same way that eye contact gives a connection to the viewer. In this case, it sort of separates them even further which is entirely appropriate to the scene.

Cheers,
Rob
