Just finished with the bi-monthly sort through of shots I couldn't be bothered doing at the time.
The shot was taken late last year close to where the other half keeps her horse. This young mare lives in the grounds next door and came bounding over to see us while we were taking a quiet walk through the woods on a rather dull day, very friendly she was too! ![]() I'd be interested to know what you think, especially processing wise... taken with the 40D + nifty fifty. ![]() Regards, Iain.

Re: A Horsey
Really like this one! Not just well comp'd but you've got the mane flying as well!
Processing-wise, I guess it'd make a good mono, but I like the colour framing her |

Re: A Horsey
The way you've captured it makes her look wild, which I think is fantastic. Great capture, and I like the processing, if it was anything other than normal stuff

Re: A Horsey
At first glance it looks a bit weird to have the main subject in neutral colours and the BG in full collour, but once I got past the unusual feel of this presentation, I kinda like it
Because the BG is blurred, it doesn't detract, but rather nicely identifies the mare's surroundings. As Marcin says, the pose of the horse makes her look kinda human, especially with the flowing locks ![]() Nice one Iain |

Re: A Horsey
Just fade back changes by 50% of head only (burnt out highlights & loss of detail in shadow) & it's spot on

Re: A Horsey
I think that's a great horsey portrait, Sonsey, and TBH I see no burnt-out highlights or loss of shadow detail - Dave cancel the car and get a new monitor instead.
![]() The Photoshop [spit... ] filter seems to have a similar effect to the Vibrance adjustment in some converters/editors - it increases the saturation of less saturated colours whilst leaving the more saturated ones alone - or have I got it wrong again?
