HTLGN
Hi everyone, it's been a while since I posted anything on here. I've been busy practicing my technique, so thought it's about time to see what you think of my work.
![]() I over-exposed this one deliberately to get the high contrast look but kept just enough of the detail in to keep it interesting. Not to everyone's taste but is what i was trying to achieve. I'm very please with the outcome, but what do you guys think? All comments very welcome. Thanks John |

Re: HTLGN
Hi Gypsy
Interesting work, but I don't really like it. Reasons: first it just appears that you have blown her face and arms without any reason for it. Secondly, the bright halos around her hair are distracting. It is a worthwhile exercise, however, to play and see what you get and what you like. It is so personal. 10 people may come online and say that they love it, so don't let my comments discourage you. OK, I did have a little play. It appears a tad darker here than in photoshop, so imagine a whiter white on the skin And I am pretty sure that this is not what you were trying to do, but I think it makes a bolder statement.skip

Re: HTLGN
Thanks for the comments
![]() Sorry you don't like it Skip, but different opinions make the world go round The reason for blowing out her arms and face is to REALLY draw attention to her eyes and lips. The soft lighting on her hair and out of focus legs softens the image just enough to provide balance with the high contrast face. The halo of light around her hair was again deliberate to give seperation from the black background, in addition the strobe in bare bulb format also gave an interesting highlight on her legs and shoes at the rear of the photo.

Re: HTLGN
I think the pic looks good from shoulders upwards, including arms. The bit that I don't like is the backside and legs as they are so blurred that they have melted into a bit of an undefined blob. We know what they are but I do find it very distracting.
No probs with the high key idea, it isn't my cup of tea but that is purely my own taste, the technique has been carried out well so that practice has obviously paid off. Interesting idea. Cheers, Rob |
