I think the two shots are light years apart, and that 20 years really shows in the 2nd shot.

I hope those verticals are intentional though.

I have to say that the shot on the right is beautiful in every sense but the one on the left could easily be 40 years earlier not twenty, the style and lighting suggest a photo from a much earlier age.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I was selecting pictures for a lesson, was not thinking of the putting them together. For some reason I did, I had never looked at or thought about the similarity before

I remember firing the sutter for both shots even the 20 year old one. I can also remember fighting with the client because she wanted cliche and twee and I wanted classical and style. So I shot it both ways. As it turned out It was the clasical that won and got published.

Yes the verticals are meant to be as they are in both shots. I often shoot of square when its going to help the balance of an image. Rules are meant to be broken.

I quite agree, I was just pulling your leg. The off- vertical works well in that second shot.

Hi.

I guess thats because your looking at low key and high key together. In this respect its better to look at them seperatley.

I put them together as a reflection of past and present.

Its funny the different comments from different people, photography is a very subjective subject.

I appreciate every ones thoughts.

:-)

So I guess theres some thing right about it.

Yes, but she's mad so you can't take that too seriously!

I have to say that although I think the colour one is technically better I still prefer the B&W one for the shadows. But if you're trying to highlight the clothing then I guess having it in shadow is not a good thing!

Thanks SammyC.

Yes she is a bit eccentric but thats fashion. Ive been involved in this business for many years and surpose that makes me a bit mad too. If being mad means working in a wonderful and fullfilling business, Im all for it.

I appreciate your comments.

It would be really cool to see some of your work.

Best wishes

Bruce

Mad? With those prices, she must be ****** crackers!

I do much prefer the B&W one, as a comparison between the two.
As shots on their own, you're right, they're best viewing independantly of each other.

Photography is very subjective indeed.

Infact, if you think about it, there is nothing 'wrong' in photography at all. Even out of focus shots can look pleasing to someone (no sniggers about my talents from the back of the classroom thankyou )
