Ibstock Church

I have to admit not to being one to be out after dark! but popped out this evening to a church we have passed several times going to Derbyshire

ISO 400, F3.9, 1/5

Curve and some B+C

Really wish I could have cut those trees down, they were everywhere from every angle, big black and in the way. The colour version is in my gallery.

Re: Ibstock Church

I think that this is incredibly difficult to shot because of the harsh central lightcasting a shadow in the low centre and burning out the area around the shadow. Ask the Parochial Church Counsel to alter the lighting!! I also wonder whether a square on shot, although less interesting, would have helped with the shadows on the right.

Nice Helen, very difficult to do much unless using filters tehre. I dont find the trees a distraction but as said that harsh light is a result of eitehr exposing the shot and getting the lights blown out or expose for the light then miss out the rest.

Guessing the light tone of the church was pretty much 0ev anyway for metering? It might be worth grabbing a gradient ND eitehr a +4 or +8 and trying again, turning the filter to darken the bottom where the light cast is so strong but leaving the upper part un touched but as it is, I think its pretty nicely exposed and the noise working as nice grain for once!
