Ice Flow
My second post for your kind consideration and comment.
This shot was taken mid morning in early winter after a night just below freezing. This woodland puddle appears to have frozen in stages creating this dynamic pattern in the ice. The pattern suggested, to me, movement in something inherently solid. D80, 70-300 zoom, tripod, 1 sec @ f40, iso 320 ![]() |

Re: Ice Flow
I like everything about this. The curves contrasted to the linear (sort of) form at the bottom. The white ice contrasted with the browns. It just appeals to my inner self.
Great composition, focus and exposure. And a good eye, too. skip |

Re: Ice Flow
An interesting dynamic with that curve. I find ice shots really tough to arrive at a satisfactory comp (but am happy to spend time attempting! LOL!)
Think the shot needs a little 'waking' with attention to the Levels, giving a lighter view with more contrast. Next time I'd be tempted to bring the ISO down from 320, what with using a tripod |

Re: Ice Flow
Markulous, Here is a "woken up" version using your suggestion regarding levels. I think it improves the shot - Thanks. I try to shoot at ISO 100 most of the time if I can - on this one I think I just forgot to reset after another shot.
