Julie
This is another Julie. Very tall, nearly 6 ft, aspiring model.
This was shot at 1/30sec @f/6.3. The flash was supposed to fire, but didn't so I had to bump up the exposure a bit so if you look carefully, the image is a bit noisy. Ignore that. Also ignore that little defect on the right edge. That was a light switch that I thought I had cloned out completely (sigh). What I like about this image is the pose and look on Julie's face. Notice please, that there is no hand or arm popping from her chest or stomach. That is key, I think. C n C mandatory!!! ![]() ![]() skip |

Re: Julie
she looks very comfortable and extremely sure of herself. ignoring what you have already pointed out the only problem i have with it is her shadow.. i cant make up my mind if is should be more obvious or not there at all........ could also have been unintentional if you had been planning on using flash.......
She has a very professional air about her tho and looks very comfortable infront of the camera. Fi |

Re: Julie
Thanks, Fi
It is interesting, but her comfort level and effortless posing were not apparent to me during the shoot. It was only when reviewing the images that I saw what she had really done. And she is pretty new at modeling. skip |

Re: Julie
Alright, Skip, I'll dive in here.
I agree about her expression. I also like her hand and the raised little finger - a bit sassy - expressing some attitude. Get the sense that Julie could be fun to work with. Don't know whether to ignore the texture I see on the wall to the left because of the flash issue but I actually like it and think that a heavily textured wall adds interest. The scrunched up shirt at her waist bothers me a bit - not sure why - maybe its a distraction that serves no purpose. - Paul |

Re: Julie
Hi, Skip. I'll confess to having a peep in the early hours (when you and I were the only two members on line), but could not post anything as I was at work and had to log off before 'big brother' caught me using the net which is a no-no!
Julie looks completely at home in front of the camera. I think so often that comments that models don't look comfortable or are not in natural poses are as a result of the model not feeling relaxed, or maybe are trying too hard. Mostly, the shot works for me. The off-white choice of background colour really complements the clothes she is wearing and her skin tone. I like the pose, the colour balance of all of the elements in the shot and the crop. I'm not sure about the shadow on the backdrop, and I would prefer her to be looking at the camera, rather than out of shot. Got any more from this shoot?

Re: Julie
Thank you, Paul.
I fussed with the texture on the wall, too, tried blur, clone, etc, but nothing looked right. I didn't pay much attention to her scrunched up shirt, but it showes her hip bone, which to me adds a bit of seductiveness. I read about the 4 "s" of glamour photography, one of which should be included to produce a sucessful image, sexiness, sultriness, sensuality and seductiveness. The definitions are elusive, but we all know when we see it. Dab - I have a ton from this shoot, and will post the 4 good ones ![]() skip Last edited by skipper954; 15-02-2007 at 17:05. Re: Julie
I think this is a pretty good image of a pretty lady. She has a sort of sassy stance but in a friendly way which is very endearing. I am not sure whether actually I would like to have seen some evidence of her having a right arm or whether it just looks natural enough because she is side-profiled. I would have liked her to pull her vest/t-shirt a bit straighter on the left, it is a bit more scrunched up than I would have liked. Doesn't need to be perfectly straight, just a but more than it is
![]() I can't say the wall appeals to me and actually if the flash had gone off it might have exacerbated it even more as it seems to have a varnished coating which makes it very reflective. You were probably using the flash bounced so it wouldn't have made too much difference but then you might have been using it as a fill-in flash (given there is evidence you were using two lights as well) which would have been more direct but perhaps low powered so not a problem. It's very hard to tell whether the skintone is close to her natural tone or not, it looks as though it is a bit yellower than real life, again caused by the tungsten lights without the white light of a flashgun. Have you played with the white balance at all Skip or do you feel this is pretty much right for what you saw in front of you? All in all, I think it's a pleasant image and she looks a lovely lady to work with. Cheers, Rob

Re: Julie
I think that you are correct about her skin tone, Rob. I looked at some of my RAW images taken outside and there is no yellow tint. Some of this may be due to her outfit and the walls, but I will adjust the WB a bit to see what happens.
As an aside, the comments are so great that I have given Julie the URL here so she can see them too. I think that they will be of value in her modeling. Thanks. skip |

Re: Julie
Julie, when you get to this message....
If you ever find yourself over here in the UK, I'd love to meet up and get a few shots. You've got a lovely naturalness that comes across well so thanks for letting us (via Skip) enjoy seeing you. Got another Skip? Cheers, Rob |
