Julie by the Window

This was one of my first shoots. The sheer wrap may look familiar. I washed the sand off

I was doing this shoot inside (no studio, just the models apartment) with flash because it was raining. Finally the sun came out and we moved by the window for natural light. I know it is a bit of a cliche, but I like the effect.

This was shot at 1/30 @f/4 and a 41mm focal length. Why 1/30, I don't know. I was young then. It is a tad soft, but in this case, I think it is a good effect with the softness of the model and the fabric.

I think I finally got the sizing and detail down. Thanks Dave.

Nice shot, I think it may have helped to add a reflector to bounce a bit of light back into the subject on this one. It is very nice as it is. Also maybe bring the model away from the background to throw it out of focus a bit, I understand that this may not have been possible due to the constraints of the working area but just a suggestion.

I like it, colourful and plenty of contrast. As gary says some reflected light could have been kinder to her face and the shadows round the eyes.

Re: Julie by the Window

Good idea. I did have an assistant and a reflector, but it was downstairs, and he was holding up the backdrop, also I didn't think of it. Will remember for the future. Thanks.

Re: Julie by the Window

He is a good friend, who is interested in photography, and acceeds to assist me on nude shoots if he could bring his camera and shoot too, after asking the model if it is ok. He doesn't go on the non-nude shoots.

I am serious about shooting, though, but trying to get models (for trade for cd or print rather than paying) is very trying.
