Just Friends
My granddaughter and grandson (and their fathers). I know that backs are not good, but if I had run ahead of them to try to take the picture it would have destroyed the feeling.
And yup, I should have blurred the BG. And decenterd ![]() skip |

Re: Just Friends
thats exactly what happened to me with the picture I posted wich I called SADNESS HAS ITS OWN BEAUTY....sometimes it just has to happen in that second or it wont happen..but remember theres always photoshop to fix part of them like blurring the BG..but i love those on the spot pictures it captures the moment and the feeling of the moment...love the fact your grandkids are holding hands ...very good picture

Re: Just Friends
It works because the lad has his face turned sideways so we can see him making eye contact with your granddaughter. The lighting is a shame as there are quite a few burnt out spots that detract from the image but capturing the moment is more important that capturing a picture to go on the wall and this has done that. There is a certain cuteness about them holding hands, even if it is only to feel safer up on their fathers' shoulders.
Definitely right not to run ahead, the picture from the front would have been with them aware and it would not have been the same shot at all. Cheers, Rob

Re: Just Friends
this is adoreable. my only critisicm id that the people are getting slightly lost in the back ground. mayeb a play with contrast would bring them up a bit? OR bring some small amount of colour into the background. i think the composition is fabulous and the image itself tells a very emotive story......... there could be any number of reasons why they are holding hands and the brain starts ruinning thru them all as you look at it! super stuff Skip......... gawd i wish i could take candids! lol

Re: Just Friends
All been said above - nice emotive shot. Maybe crop a bit closer but it is as it is! Was thinking along the lines of a vignette but I think it'd just make it cheesy!

Re: Just Friends
Like this one Skip. I bet all of the families want copies! Probably worth blurring the BG to reduce the influence of the tree.
Another consideration for not running to get in front would be the high medical bills incurred in the hospital during recovery!! |

Re: Just Friends
Thank you all for your comments. I think that I shall have a play (as you say) and give it to my daughters for the holiday. Saves the cost of a gift

Skip.
No critique from me. This is simply the sweetest shot. Well done on capturing the moment. |
