Re: Kat Again
David, Kat has a beautiful face and eyes and again, I think this would be better cropped to a head shot. This isn't a criticism of Kat at all but I'm not convinced she has the body for these kinds of shots...they really do demand voluptuous curves....whether the boys here agree remains to be seen!! Including the bra turns a great shot into an image you'd find in a catalogue!
You are catching her face so well it seems such a shame to detract from that. |

Re: Kat Again
I agree. Photographing her without the bra and from the shoulders up would be a sexier pose. Hint at what is there, but don't quite show it.

Re: Kat Again
I agree entirely with what Angela and bcw have said. I really don't like her left arm at all, it is thin anyway so to have half of it hidden so it looks even thinner really doesn't help at all. It really does make you question what the picture is actually of: is it a bra shot for a mail order catalogue or is it a lady who is wearing a bra? I think the less is more approach that bcw mentioned would be a lot better: show her lovely face and eyes and let it crop a little further down almost as a tease but without actually showing the breasts. As Angela said, this pretty lady doesn't really have the body for a sensual type of shot but she has the face and eyes and you can suggest the rest with judicious camera angles and crops :o)
Cheers, Rob

Re: Kat Again
Hey, David
One of the things that I am learning here is that the men and women here are very critical. That is why we are all here, and in this case, I think that they are right. This image does not show Kat to her advantage. She has a wonderful face, great eyes, and a models thin body. One of the things that you might want to do is to ask her: "what are your strong points?" She may come up with answers that lead you to other types of photos with her. I personally would like to see her in mono, totally nude, in some very artistic poses, standing, sitting by a window, or with some great lighting and backdrop, with subtle shadows playing across her body, etc. Geometric poses, with arms and legs in different positions against a stark BG may be goo. Also some mono portraits with different emotions seem good for Kat. The possibilities are limitless. If she is willing to work with you, talk to her a lot before you shoot, get her ideas, be really creative. I envy you the opportunity to really do some wonderful shots here. Whenevery you do a shoot, you have to really "see" the model, and come up with poses that bring out her figure and personality. Yea, that is easy to say. So practice practice practice, man. And I guess you should look at thousands of artistic nude images to get ideas, if you haven't already! Sorry for this pimp.....the call of the siren....couldn't resist. And as I look at it, this version magnified her skin, so when you set up a shoot, make sure that makeup and hair are good before the shoot. ![]() Cheers skip Last edited by skipper954; 07-12-2006 at 03:09. Re: Kat Again
The comment that scares me is 'the model's thin body.' Perhaps that is why we have such problems in GB and USA with anorexia among teenaged girls.
Come on people, let's change the balance and do our children a big favour: let's see women in all shapes and sizes and look to bring out all aspects of beauty and interest. Thin women all the time tells our youngsters that thin is the only way to be accepted. The more we see pictures looking glamorous without having to be a stick insect and without having to take all their clothes off the more we can help redress the balance and get peope to be seen as people. Cheers, Rob |

Rob
You are 100% correct. Eating disorders are a huge problem. People die from them. Education is the way to change perceptions, though it may take nearly a generation to do it. I believe that I read that the industry in some countries is trying to change the image of models. But now we are off topic. I would like to see what everyone thinks of my pimp from a photographic standpoint. skip btw....I don't think that taking off clothes is a bad thing

Re: Kat Again
LOL, nor do I, I do it every night, just before I go to bed :o)
With regards your crop, it works ok, I am not sure why you chose to enlarge it such a lot. No problem with enlarging per se, just that it has made it a bit soft focused as this makes that portion of the shot about twice as large as the original. The crop itself works ok, perhaps there is still a bit too much of the bra cup on the left boob, right of picture. Does tend to be strongly prominent in the pic now. Not really sure. Cheers, Rob |

Re: Kat Again
Hey Rob
I enlarged unwittingly, because I saved for the web, with the usual parameters. And, I really thought about how low to crop. I ended up where I was to show a bit of cleavage. The bra could be a nightgown, swimsuit or dress, because now that I look closely, there seem to be two straps. Who knows the mechanics of womens clothing? skip |

Re: Kat Again
With all due respect, J, I think that both of your images are a bit too blurred, but perhaps you are on to something, and have the right idea.

Re: Kat Again
In my case, sometimes i rather use the dreamy effect instead of cloning or healing to get rid of skin deffects or blemishes, but I think your right i over did it a bit...
