I haven't posted a photo in awhile. So here is one with hopes for a critique.

Didn't really need an edit but:


Removed BG vertical line, darkened BG, cropped closer, darkened chest

You didn't like the mail box line in the BG How did you darken the background more?

Ahh, the mailbox! OK!

I actually selected the BG and then used a gradient layer (with the %age reined way back) but I'm not convinced you need it here, with the crop (it was the body going back out of the pic that I was anxious to reduce)

Agree with removing the line in the bg but think thats all it needs.

An excellent shot in beautiful light with neat control of what is in the depth of field.

How do you select the BG? I know its a dumb question to most, but I don't know how to do that I do like how you did this.

I did crop this closer for a 5x7 that someone bought which I agree looks alot better, but for some reason I didn't chose it for Pixalo.....bummer on my part

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this photo.

It was a quickie take as I'm so allergic to cats and for some reason they must know it cuz it kept walking towards me as I was walking backwards to get away from it and also take its picture.

Mary, you could select this BG easily as it is quite distinct from the rest of the cat. You could just use the magic wand in PS or you could try the Select>Color Range tool if you fancied it. I'd just use the magic wand and feather your selection slightly before copying to a new layer and adjusting it

ps I realise this is the PS way, if you are using other editing progs then you'll need to check it out on those but most have a magic wand and layers so can do it much the same way.
