Well you should be happy with that. Given the very limited DOF you've got the head pin sharp there, What lens was it?

Thanks, Canon 100mm macro, hand held at 1/100 F4, I absolutely love that lens.

Nice photo dod! I like the fact that the head and mouthparts are all in focus. Too many people concentrate on getting the wings in focus
![]() One tiny suggestion though - try upping the saturation a little. It just might bring out the colour a little more

Cracking shot. Nice and sharp on its head and great DOF. (Better than spiders  ). I've been looking at investing in a decent macro lens and I think that the one you're using may just fit the bill.

Good close up dod.
Great detail in the bugs facial area. The flash is a bit harsh, try reflecting of a white paper plate or something similar, this will soften the light and give a more pleasing affect. |

Cracking detail where it counts, very good work when you consider it's a handheld shot at 1/100th.

You can do something with harsh sunlight, Use your body if possible to shade your subject.
If you have someone with you ask them to hold something over you to create the same effect. Fill in flash can also help in harsh sunlight. |
