Re: Ladybower B&W
Hey PE
My feeling is that it is too dark. The land details, and the reflection are lost. If you could lighten that without blowing the bright clouds, that would help. Also the dark clouds and the bottom 1/2 of the water could be lightened, hopefully giving a wider tonal range. skip |

Re: Ladybower B&W
Well I have already said I like this in your gallery.
B&W is what I do most of but that makes me no expert!! I like what you have done with this, it really draws you in. I can see were Skip is coming from with it being a bit dark. I also think you are losing some of the detail due to the re-sizing for the web. I tried working on your colour one but it's just to small. I think this would look great as an A3 print. The detail would really open up. If it was my photo I would crop some water off the bottom and make a large panorama print 60cmX20cm. I like it, it's sharp, moody and B&W what more does a picture need. nice one I want that lens Cotter |

Re: Ladybower B&W
as has been said it is a tad too dark. the sky i would select and play with the contrast..... the land i would tweak the curves to bring it up a bit.. i do like this image as it has a lot of atmosphere. its just a tad dark to enjoy properly

Re: Ladybower B&W
I simply boosted the shadows by 12% in CS2, and look at the difference! Don't give up on this image, it has potential!

Re: Ladybower B&W
I felt a letterbox crop would move the central line just a but further off the middle. I lifted the shadows a touch and cropped off more from the FG as this was fairly empty and made the bottom feel heavy. See what you think...

Re: Ladybower B&W
Ref processing I love the sky & water, but the land is lacking contrast for me. Quite often Ian I process the land in a sperate layer from the sky. Open a 2nd version of this colour shot & process purely to get land correct ...ignore what it's doing to the sky & water. When complete copy it on to this shot & it should appear as another layer. Now use mask tool to bring sky & water back from below. Finally tweak shot as required & flatten image

Re: Ladybower B&W
Thanks to all for taking the time to give me advice......I am not one for cropping but have to agree it suits this image.
I will take all this good advice on board and give it another go |

You can always put up a 1000 pixel colour job for pimping
