Landscape

Ok now the landscape comp is over I would like some feedback on a similar image to the one I entered please.

After I entered the comp I soon started to take a dislike to the processing which was done in RSE & CS2.

Now I am colour blind so often my editing ends in total frustration

Enough waffle here is the image that was edited in DPP & CS2

Re: Landscape

The foreground isn't the strongest in that it doesn't appear to have an immediate connection to the rest of the image. Compositionally very good and although some will criticise it's central horizon it is a way of opening up a landscape image and inducing space.

If anything, it's missing some light variation.

Re: Landscape

I am also a bit colour-blind. Why could I not be interested in mucking out horses, or shampooing poodles? Photography, or rather processing / printing is hard enough as it is...... Maybe this is the subconsious reason that I always liked black and white. (And is my excuse for c**p photographs)!!

Anyway, back to the subject. For me, the low dark central cloud is the spoiler. This, the central horizon and the track running up the middle give the shot four quarters, and I guess that bothers me a bit. I think the clouds are a bit distracting. Scroll down so the browser window takes out the darkest clouds, just leave a little sky in the shot. I think it works better.

Perhaps with some foreground interest and less sky, the track becomes a mid / background feature, taking you through the landscape.

Still a good picture that I'd be pleased with.

Cheers

It was processed with RSE Premium that I have always had a love hate relationship with.

Re: Landscape

I have to agree with Dabhand on this one (not that there is anything wrong with agreeing with Graham ) but the centered horizon just splits the picture to much and if you do scroll the screen so that you have maybe just 25% of the sky showing it gives you a great panoramic shot with massive impact. The vertically split (using the path and the mountain) doesn't bother me at all when much of the sky has been removed. Processing wise I think its fine, the bevelled edge on the picture itself I find distracting though...

Do you know what would have made this into a killer shot though...either early morning or late evening light, the contours on the mountain are crying out for emphasis different light would bring to the shot. Who said landscape photography was easy

I will probably re-visit this place and try again.

Still not happy with my processing.........just purchased C1 LE along with the Magna colour profiles so I will see how I get on with it.
