Re: Lauren (not work safe)

You are certainly mixing them up now David! For me there are (inevitably) good and not so good elements here.

I like the way this model is communicating. She appears to be involved with the viewer, something that not all of your models can achieve. She has great eyes and the colours of your setting complement her complexion and colouring.

The setting itself, although complementary in one sense, is also competing for attention. The picture on the wall being directly behind her head is distracting, and the shadow going into the corner looks, well, not quite right (for you) and leaves an area of little detail to her LHS as viewed. I don't know how much room you had to play with, but I think the props could have been arranged better, or different angles used to allow the room to be just a background rather than a co-star.

You usually give a little hint of how you and the model got on. 'had a good laugh', 'great girl to work with' etc. Does the absence of such a comment indicate that this shoot was hard work? My gut feeling is no, it was good.

Re: Lauren (not work safe)

Not the best pose for a top-heavy girl; I also find the line of her right arm to be distracting.

When your model has curves, they should be shown off - think of those shots of Sophie Dahl a few years back and you'll know what I mean. I also agree that the overall scene is a little 'off' too, since the colours are all from the same pallette and there's little variation... brown on brown with brown background doesn not work.

Try the same girl in a lighter setting to accentuate her red hair and full figure, and perhaps take along a few prints of Ms. Dahl at her best to communicate poses that should be attempted. I'd also think about a touch more directional lighting at either a 1:3 or 2:3 ratio to bring detail back where it has been lost in the shadows.

Re: Lauren (not work safe)

I agree with Dab and Viking.

And will only add that if your thought was to emphasize her breasts there are many more appealing and flattering ways to do it, as I am sure you are aware.

Sorry, and I hate to say this, but this is a bit grotesque. (And to be quite crude and rude, I never thought I would say that about boobs)

Re: Lauren (not work safe)

im gonna agree and disagree with the others, i agree with the pose, ( not that i know anything about posing models) but to me she seems to be hiding herself as if she was embarrassed rather than being proud of her "assets".

however i DO like the background and colours, its comfy, warm and homely and i feel its the ideal setting for a model to really relax.
