A Light Picture - Edinburgh
This is another taken recently on my trip to Edinburgh. I tried many different timings but this is one I like. I composed it in order to get three ascending circular shapes. I like the fact that there is the subdued circle of the gypsy caravan at front left, then the dome in one colour in the mid-ground and then the multi-coloured wheel as the main subject further back.
There was nothing I could do about the trees and sure as heck wasn't going to sit and clone them out but I don't think they matter too much because of the lights. It was taken with my Canon 20D and 28-70mm L series. I took some at longer exposures but this one I took at f 8 for 4 seconds. The reason for that is I wanted a time that was less than the time it took for one carriage on the big wheel to move to the position of the next wheel so that I would get a spoke effect rather than complete circular bands of colour. It was taken in RAW and then adjusted using Photoshop. Hope you like it but as always all C & C welcome. Cheers, Rob ![]()

Re: A Light Picture - Edinburgh
yeah i wondered what had happened to this one i remember seeing it on the LCD!
i have to say i think this is one of the best of the evening! and the trees add to it by making it more than just a picture of a fair. it adds to the character of the place. a lovely image and one i know i would have been proud to take.........( damn where was i when this was being taken......) As you guys say over there, this is a cracking shot, Rob. The composition is perfect.
A shame about the trees. ![]() skip |
