Re: linlithgow fountain
Fiona, the detail in this fountain is truely remarkable and your DOF provides full coverage. The BG focus is just right to give the viewer a sense of place without being distracting. I envy you for having such wonderful buildings with such great texture to photograph.
The one thing I would like to see is a shot that crops out those retangular screens at the base - they really seem to detract and distract my eye from the beauty above. Wonderful photo. - Paul |

Re: linlithgow fountain
Apart from the over-tight crop, you have done an excellent job here Fi. The focusing is spot on and gives an excellent rendition of this wonderful fountain. Great stuff.
Cheers, Rob |

Re: linlithgow fountain
The range of tones is great as is detail/sharpness.The palace wall gives enough clues to 'place' the fountain in time and context I think.Very nice fionaB

Re: linlithgow fountain
A really nifty shot, Fi.
My only suggestions would be to back away a bit and put it off center, if you could do that without losing any detail. Also, it seems like you are below the fountain, looking a bit up. I think it would be a very cool shot if you were a bit higher. I try to carry a small ladder in my car when I go on a shoot. I know, not always possible. skip |

Re: linlithgow fountain
yep Skip i was lower than the fountain, i have actually got plenty shots of it from on the same level but was looking for a slightly different angle ( do NOT ask where i was lol)..... plus there is a lot of restoration work going on ( the bane of the ruin lovers life) so scaffolding was a problem. i think my son would completely disown me if i started carrying a step ladder around with me.,,,, also as i had to carry my own equipment this time ( Alan being at his placement) i was not about to add ladders to it!
