Re: Little house in the vally

Interesting subject, Steve. First thing that struck me was the grass and horse on the LHS don't look proportionate to the house, which makse me think this part has been added. Also there is some foreground interest that has been cut off. The trees in the background, particularly the one to the RHS of the LH chimney merge with the roof a bit.

I wonder if ther was another angle for the shot to have been taken from? That is lower/closer to hide the trees behind the roof, or from one of the sides?

I don't know if you would consider these comments good or bad, but as I said, it is an interesting shot, and those were my initial thoughts.

This is very different. it isnt really something that i would expect to see as a photo, a old painting maybe but it makes it all the more facinating and draws me in to keep looking at it. The grass on the building gives it a odd shape it makes the building look more curved rather than cornered, possibly another angle could of had a different result. i cant really give you much more than that other than i am hooked. where did you find this building?

Re: Little house in the vally

As said the subject is very interesting and has many opportunities but IMO there is no real focal point. I'm probably repeating what Dabhand and Jinxy have said but the horizon is on half-way line and would be better on a third. Ditch the horse, it's distracting from the main subject. You have got a pleasant shot of an interesting house that would have benefited from a different angle, looking up or down or from the side and there are plenty of ops for interesting close-ups.

On the plus side the colour is good and you've done exceptionally well to expose for the sky and the house/ground. The image looks a bit soft all over which might have been intentional. Is this a possible re-visit location?
