Local Pub - Good enough to get a free meal out of landlord ?
With a new Landlord at the Local pub, I thought I would have a play at pulling together a Mono. Aim is to offer the landlord a decent size print in return for a meal for 2. Do you think this shot is good enough
?

Depends on how many beers you have bought him before you show it!
Will he be bothered about the converging verticals? Maybe there is scope to pull out a little more detail in the darker areas? Is that a sign on the end wall that is a bit blown? But then again, what do I know? Must be worth a try. |

Feel free to edit shot
I tried pulling the verticals back, but the shot lost some impact then End wall has sun hitting it hard , thus the reflection / burn out. Might need to revisit in less harsh light, to try & pull out more detail. Could also do with a more impressive sky ![]() Could also try the Sigma 10-20mm to get a more dramatic perspective ..... mmmm, decisions, decisions ![]() Maybe a pickled egg in a bag of crisps will have to do , until I get it sorted

Re: Local Pub - Good enough to get a free meal out of landlord ?
Sorry Dave, but as a photograph it is ace but as an advert it's a downer to me. It is a gloomy shot, and gives me the feeling "is it going to be gloomy inside?". Something bright and breezy is needed this time - and that's an opinion of an ex-professional at the hospitality game.

Re: Local Pub - Good enough to get a free meal out of landlord ?
Sorry Dave, have to agree with Stepheno - technically the photo's good, but I can't see anything to make me want to go there - no atmosphere at all. Try an indoor shot at the bar? Or both - put an inset of the indoor shot in top LH corner
![]() Or even try .................................................. colour ![]() I'm on a roll here ............. how about mono front view + colour indoor shot as inset? What I think it boils down to is, there's no human element here, no sign of life. |
