Re: London Eye

I think it is a great shot as is! I might be interested in seeing some wider crops if you have, but thats not even really needed.

Only small thing that will make a big difference, burn the highlights in the building on the left, the lights are distracting.

Done very quickly like this...

Ahh, I beg to differ! I like the bright lights in the building as it balances the shot as well as adding something which sets the shot apart from others!

Variations on a good shot. Both are good, just comes down to preference.

Hi Bugdog - you look an awful lot like Mutley to me

I strongly agree with Mark when he says:

There's a lot of dark + empty space in the shot. The sky is an odd colour, a sort of murky grey - could it be made black? I think this would accentuate the lights in the lower half of the frame, which look a bit feeble.

Nice reflection in the water, + the wheel itself came out well (but even that could do with a bit more saturation).

This image does not shout as loud as I feel it has the makings of doing.

Quite a harsh crit, but I hope you find it constructive - if not, then just remember it's only one person's opinion

Re: London Eye

I agree with Mark, the lights in the building give the picture balance and a bit more interest. I prefer the original without the dark frame though, I like the strength of the blue reflection and this has been half lost. I also like the stronger colours on the wheel itself in Mark's adjustment, makes it a stronger image altogether.

Nicely taken starting image and nice bit of post processing to bgring it to its stronger version. Good work all round

Cheers,
Rob

Re: London Eye

In general I'm getting rather bored of shots of the London Eye, but this is a bit original and I like it.

I prefer it without the lights, isn't it good that we all, always agree on everything here?

Love the colour of the wheel against the sky, that does come out a bit better in Markulous's pimp though.

Re: London Eye

Ok, as we can't agree on the building lights, how about a halfway house? I have tried an adjustment so the lights of the building now have a light blue tinge to complement the wheel. I also detuned the yellow building bottom right to stop it taking the eye away.

See what you think.

Re: London Eye

I really like this picture, I'd be really chuffed if I had taken it.

Great composition, exposure is spot on. I'm personally in the 'with light' group, as Rob says earlier I think it adds some balance. I can see the point about the colour of the sky, I don't think its a big deal really, I think a completely dark sky however would look unnatural.

All minor points,

A shot to be proud of!!!

Re: London Eye

OK, I am going to be in the vast minority here. Maybe it is because I am not from the UK, and have no real attachment to the eye, but I don't feel anything about this image.

The eye sort of looks tilted, like it is going to fall over. To me, it is just a picture of a ferris wheel without much visual appeal.

If it is the UK thing, then this is justified. If not, then maybe I am just grumpy tonight.
