London Eye in the Rain! - A bit different :o)

I have taken hundreds of photos of the London Eye but wanted to find something a bit different. Then I saw this puddle and looked for an angle that might give a reflection... this is the best of the ones I found. Let your brain orientate itself to the image and see what you think

Cheers,
Rob

I like this one too Rob the watery colours and reflections are great.

The wall of the embankment might not be immediately obvious to anyone not knowing the Thames in this part of London, and I can't help thinking that if there was a bit more of the forground/puddle in the shot you would not need the preamble and explanation. Looking at the angle you have taken this one from I guess that would not be easy.

It is still a great picture though.

Re: London Eye in the Rain! - A bit different :o)

Thanks Graham, the shot without the wall was more than difficult.... it was imossible. The light is on top of the wall and the Eye goes over the wall so moving the wall out of the shot would have moved the objects out as well! I really did try this in loads of different ways but this way worked to get those objects into the picture into an agreeable angle and things. Every other angle I tried just didn't work as effectively so it was a question of working with what I had. I could have cloned it out and stuff but wanted to keep this 'as is' as much as possible.

Hopefully, the picture works with a bit of studying without needing the preamble I gave it. What do you think?

Cheers,
Rob

I think it is a b****y good shot Rob. I did not mean leave the wall out, just that making it a little more obvious it was a puddle might enable the viewer to connect with it more easily.

Very creative photography, Rob. From what you said, the compositional problems were overcome as much as possible.

I like the reflective effect. The dark thing (wall)? and the thing hanging down in the middle distract me though, but I know that you had no choice.

Still, I like it. The Eye as I have never seen it.

Well spotted! Interesting take on what is, as you say, well covered!

"Hide" that distraction in plain sight?

Good shot, although, alas, and I am not sure why I am the only one, I have seen this almost carbon copy shot before! Not to detract though, a great image

Re: London Eye in the Rain! - A bit different :o)

No way you have seen a copy of this before JM, I took it on Friday afternoon last week while I was up in London for the weekend. Plenty of other shots to go along with it but this one is most certainly not one you have ever seen before.

Cheers,
Rob

No I mean in terms of the idea, I said almost , I have seen this idea used, and executed in almost the same way before, but anyway, it's a great shot!!!
