Long-tailed Tit (Nikon D2x)
Not much good weather around here but managed this one a few days ago. For very active birds like this, the speed of the D2x is a real help compared to my old Fuji S2 (though it was sad to let that go yesterday)
Nikon D2x + Sigma 500mm f4.5. Exposure time [s] : 1/320 F-Number : F7.1 Exposure program : Manual (1) ISO speed ratings : 100 ![]() |

Nice shot, the branch cross over where the tail crosses is a nice composition bonus. Wildlife is not my strong point, but this looks pretty good to me, and pin sharp (at least the size i can see).

Thanks everyone, greatly appreciated. I couldn't put up with that image I took from my gallery and have just replaced it with a version on my website (mr nice guy saving bandwidth)...my gallery shot looks jpg'd to death and I accidentally uploaded 700pix images that got squished after the upload.

Great shot Andy of a great subject, one of my favourite birdies haven't managed to get a descent shot of one yet though as they tend to fly away just as I get focus lock.
Once you have had the D2x for a couple of weeks, you will stop regretting selling the S2. I had to offload mine as it was too slow on the focusing front. The 10D is now limiting me, as the focusing speed is too slow for most occasions. I am looking to upgrade in the near future, but am still weighing up my options. |

I opened this thread expecting to see an image of my BOSS, ..............
That is a great shot of an ordinary bird. The branches add to the shot too with the detail on the buds. The eye looks massive though......I wonder if he's just spotted a cat approaching ![]() |

How are you finding the D2x? Am seriously thinking about buying one... it's either that or another DCS pro or 14n.

Thanks again everyone.

Only had it a week so still plenty of investigating it's merits. The monitor is to die for, you can genuinely see how good an image really is... and you're not afraid to delete in the field if it doesn't look too hot on the monitor. Batteries last for ages, knowing the charge state to the percentage point is very re-assuring. cheers, Andy

Great shot, you have captured a lot of detail in this pic, well done. How much did the lens set you back?

I probably won't upgrade unless Nikon introduces some VR/I.S. into their big prime lenses. In any case I prefer the mobility i have with this, relatively, small and lightweight lens. |
