*****ly but pretty
I haven't take a flower picture in over a year it seems, but this cactus stopped me in my tracks today as I was walking through a greenhouse. Taken with my 50mm f1.4 this image was processed in ACR and the only post processing was a very small bit of sharpening for the stamen. I did nothing to create the "glow" you see in the blossom.
Looking forward to your comments. - Paul

Re: *****ly but pretty
Lovely colours and light, but agree with Fiona about the top being chopped off. The 'glow' really lifts the image.

Re: *****ly but pretty
Nice shot Paul, although it seems rather underexposed to me. I too would prefer the top of the flower not to have been chopped off.
Note to Crew: LOL isn't there a 'custom dictionary' to let the swear filter know that "p-r-i-c-k-l-y" is not a swear word

Re: *****ly but pretty
Thanks for the comments.
I wish I knew where that glow came from so I could reproduce it at will but ![]() Underexposed.........yeah that could be - I'm seeing more and more often images that seem a bit dark and am guessing that it is an artistic decision made by the photographer/developer. That was the case here - it just seemed to look better to my eye as I was processing the raw file and now that I think about it - that may be where the glow came from.

Re: *****ly but pretty
I like the composition here and although we';d all prefer the top of the flower, it is far from spoiled by being slightly cropped.
Love both original and the pimp ![]() Cheers, Rob |
