Macro attempt!
I've had my macro lens a couple of weeks now and it's taken some getting used to! This afternoon I spent some time in the garden and a very helpful butterfly was quite happy to pose on a leaf for me. Most of the shots are hopeless because there was a slight breeze but just as I was about to move away, in flew this bee. I took one quick shot and got lucky!
Macro is a whole new world for me so any C & C would be welcome.

Very nice for a first attempt!
 Focus where it counts, on the eye and lovely detail (so no camera shake!) with an interesting BG. I guess a little more DOF and less in the way of burned highlights tho' neither a big deal (and I generally hate burned highlights!) |

You did very well to get this excellent 3/4 on shot. I've found the little burggers don't stay around very long so have rattled 000's of frames.

Agree with Dabhand 100%. The only thing that would have made it better is if the blue flower had not obscured its face so much.

Good shot, and I don't think the DOF matters in the shot as you've got the key points in focus (eyes and legs).
Well done and hope for some more.

Yes, I agree, seeing the full face would have been better but he flew in and pretty much flew out again so no time to get into a better position! |

well done for beginning
. good composition. i know what you are going to say but it's not sharp as it could be - maybe there was still some movement from the wind. you where using good settings - iso 200, exposure 0.008, DOF 10. you have a nice background and light. using levels in some software you could make it look better (contrast). but as i sad - good job for beginning.
