Maidens harbour
took this the same day i shot the birds of prey. i got shouted at for walking all the way to the rocks at the end. it was freezing, very wet and very very slippy but it was ok cos Alan had orders to make sure and grab the camera if i fell........well i can swim! lol

Re: Maidens harbour
Fiona, nice capture. Doesn't look slippery to me but it's been awhile since I've seen the sea and rocks and clambored over them.
It's very important to make sure you have your priorities straight--camera first! ![]() |

Re: Maidens harbour
I love the colour of the sea and the way it's continued in the puddles. Obviously a great lead in, shame there's not something a bit more interesting at the end, that pile of rocks isn't quite enough for me but I don't suppose you had time to build a small lighthouse or maybe a castle on the far shore. You've caught it with some really nice light that lifts the picture and makes it something special.

Re: Maidens harbour
I like the idea of the shot Fi, though I think a rotate to the right was needed. I don't mind so much if there is not a lot left at the end of this path but the angle you have chosen almost takes me out of the picture. Was tehre a lot of junk on the landscape to the right that prevented you from letting the path stop about 60% into the picture rather than 95%?
I also think there is perhaps a bit more interest in the path itself if you do a shadows adjustment although it is quite good having a strong contrast between the water on both sides so am a bit twixt and tween on that one. Nicely taken, good lighting and sharp focusing. Cheers, Rob

Re: Maidens harbour
A lot of Junk?....hmmm not that i can think of Rob. just a load of houses ( including carole smilies lol) i wanted to get all the rocks at the end in tho so if i had rotated i would have lost some of them. saying that i took a few so i may actually have one with the path not as dominant. will have a look soo at some point.

Re: Maidens harbour
Hi Fi
This is OK, but actually not that interesting for me. I have looked at it for several days before commenting. If I ran across it in a gallery, I would not stop. I do like the wonderful blue, but the rocks are just a tad too dark, and I think that is where most of the interest is. And I agree, the path tends to lead the eye out of the frame because there is nothing in the distance to hold onto. Ah well, we can't take a wall hanger every time ![]() skip |
