To Market, To Market ...

Another candid for your scrutiny

He was posing for the camera, 'til he got a customer to serve ... and those made the best shots, i.e. when he was going about his business + not posing for the camera!

C & C please, TFL

Re: To Market, To Market ...

Personally, I'd prefer the other way around: the main subject, the guy, sharp and the BG showing the movement

Re: To Market, To Market ...

The whole shot is a bit "square-on" and I find myself reading the cards rather than looking at the picture. Side on with the customer in the shot as well, a good dof and it would be better.

Re: To Market, To Market ...

Thanks for your comments

Mark - I wanted to show the colours + detail + different textures of the fruit, whilst also showing the guy 'at work' which I felt would be best illustrated by showing his movement. To me, the blur of his movement showed him rushing about serving a customer (who, I thought afterwards, it would've been better to get in the shot).

Stepheno - Yes, it's unfortunate that the crop ended up square shaped and I was standing right in front + square-on, so it does all look rather square in every way, now you mention it The crop ended up sqare simply because I had to crop out distracting BG.

Thanks again for the feedback, much learned

Re: To Market, To Market ...

Do you know Charlotte, at first I wasn't sure but then it grew on me a lot. I would instinctively have wanted the main subject to be sharp and the BG blurred but for some reason I do like this way round a lot. I think it's the wonderful colours and the genuine sharpness of focusing that works so well.

If I had to be a touch picky, and I know you'd want me to, it is just that the guy's head is touching the top of the pic. A minor point but worth mentioning. Other than that, I find this strangely attractive, well done

Rob

Re: To Market, To Market ...

Thanks Rob, I appreciate your views

You're right about the top-of-the-head thing, which can be fixed as this is a crop - trying to exclude clutter - but cropped a bit too tightly at the top, I agree.
