Maxine is a very colourful girl, these clothes are what she wears all the time. Great to work with and we had lots of fun. David

Re: Maxine
I really like this one David, lovely and colourful, good lighting, perhaps a tad dark at bottom but that is highlighting the interest aroundher face and stopping the tights from being over powering so works fine.
Well done, Rob |

Re: Maxine
This is probably my favourite of all the shot's you've posted David
Pose, colour, lighting and background are all very good with only her facial expression a slight down point for me, but that's just a niggle... great shot |

Re: Maxine
Absolutely agree with Sonsey. It is a wonderfully composed image with great color, exposure, etc etc, but my first thought was her face.
She is not engaged at all. Frequently models try not to engage the camera because that is what they are taught, and if you ever have seen a runway model, their face is a mask, which is appropriate because they are showing the clothing. However, in a shot, for some shots, you have to engage the model. Try to get her not to pose, but to be fluid, to move a bit, to relax. "smile with your eyes" is good. Not easy to do...the line between a mask and a frozen smile is where you want to be, but difficult to achieve. skip |

Re: Maxine
It works very well but I agree with Skipper that it would have been even better if she were more animated. Have you come across the story of how Karsh got the classic shot of Churchill scowling? Karsh spent his allotted time trying to get a portrait of 'the British Bulldog' for the cover of Life magazine, with no success. Finally he lost his patience, snatched Churchill's ever present cigar from the prime minister's lips and pressed the release - you can see the result here: Yousuf Karsh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: Maxine
When I see shots like this I almost cringe at having to find fault...for the most part you have captured this much better than my skill would allow me to, and for that reason I admire this shot and bow to your skills
![]() I also agree with the other comments posted...Sonsey hit the nail on the head with the lighting, contrast, colours focus etc all being very well controlled. My only niggle is that her foot is almost at the edge of the frame in the crop that you have shown here, easy to fix but just a smidgen more space here would improve it for me. The expression I think is subjective, you have the eye contact and I would not say that she looks bored however she doesn't look happy either... What a colourful character she is

Re: Maxine
Definitely one of my favourites of your posts, excellent lighting, background good, colour and composition good.
I like the expression on her face, seems to me to hold a touch of attitude which suits her style, almost, dare I suggest slightly superior, perhaps a display of some inner confidence? I don't really have the words to express what I'm trying to say, so I'll shut up now. cheers Dan |

re: face
Isn't it interesting how different people can interpret the same thing completely differently. That is what makes our art, and any art, so utterly consuming. Now that Dan has commented on Maxine's face, I can see it too. skip |
