million's licorice stick
Went to hear some Jazz. It was a small room, and I just happened to have my pocket cam (Panasonic Lumix L2), so tried to take some pics.
The musician is Kenny Millions, who travels world-wide. He told me that flash photography was no problem. However, my cam does not do a great job in subdued light, even with flash. Obviously the flash helped - see the shadow on the wall? So this is the best of the bunch. The reason I rather like this is the angles of Kenny's body, arms and clarinet, plus I think that is portrays some of his feeling for the music. Any help with this kind of image (other than using my d70 and sb600 flash) from all you gurus would be appreciated. However, I don't intend to do this frequently. Most of the time I can't get close enough. skip

Nice composition, can you preset the focus?

Re: million's licorice stick
No, can't reset. Autofocus only, and probably it was too poorly lit for the cam to focus perfectly.
Thanks for the comment. skip |

Hi Skip......looks like camera has auto focussed behind to the right.
I like the composition etc and agree it portrays the music well |

Re: million's licorice stick
It kills me to do it, but I am going back to the manuals for both of my cameras and reading the pertinent parts. But it just goes contrary to my genetic makeup.

I had to do that after taking lots of pictures of my eyeball.
Turns out you look through the other end!

Re: million's licorice stick

Re: million's licorice stick
Classic example of men not observing the RTFM strategy ... each time we went away overnight, hubby fought + battled with, swore at, but eventually did manage to put up the travel cot. I went to stay with my dad one weekend, just me + little person, + I read the extremely short + simple instructions which were staring me in the face off of the base of the cot + had it assembled in two ticks
![]() Good shot Skip. I agree that the focus thing doesn't bug me in this case. |
