Misty Shot

Took this afternoon as the sun was breaking trhough the mist. Wanted to try & cpature the different shades of landscape as they went back into the mist. Does it work ? Any advice on best way to have taken shot etc ?

If you fancy having a play with the shot, please pop over to PIMPING section where I have listed it :- http://www.pixalo.com/gallery/showph...4/limit/recent

Re: Misty Shot

Dave I really like this, but you said you wanted it pimped so here's my attempt

As you'll see I've only changed it subtley, I used a curve to increase the contrast between the different stages of mist and modified the colour balance to add a little more blue.

Re: Misty Shot

What ISO did you take it at? There seems to be a lot of noise to me?

Re: Misty Shot

Cropped (well, hacked out middle!), dodged, burned, curves, saturation - you name it! Oh, then removed the noise

Re: Misty Shot

Then I tried the same in Mono

And I left the dust bunny as a salutory lesson! (OK, I CBA to remove!)

I know! I should've cropped some off the bottom (balance would be better, I think)

Re: Misty Shot

Can you tell I have a new camera & not used to it ......ISO 800 !!!! So easy to change ISO setting , I had upped it in the morning due to poor light & then forgot to reset it It was also a 100% crop of shot, plus I had processed a bit which added even more noise.

Thanks for edits.

Anyone else, don't be frightened to say it's ****e .... I can take it you know

Re: Misty Shot

I agree with the above, this shot definitely works the best with all traces of colour or tints removed so that you concentrate fully on the small details. The cold black and white version also carries the noise better and makes it look much more like film grain. Some times forgetting to drop your iso back down can give you a good result
