Monks in Laos
It was very early morning hour, and it was kind of magic experience to see the monks going out for food, and people kneel down and give them rice.
I hope you like it. |

Re: Monks in Laos
Not as sharp as it might be but I guess it was handheld?

Re: Monks in Laos
You know rs, I really can't decide what I think about this picture. Clearly a slow shutter speed used and maybe hand-held as well as we are seeing significant motion blurring of the monks, especially the ones closest to us (which is logical as their relative distance travelled is greater than those much further away). Whilst it gives a sense of movement, it almost makes these monks look like they are really shifting and that is now how I imagine tranquil monks to be moving!
No rpobs with the composition, I like the angled lines which lead us through the picture. Just the blurring I am not sure about. Cheers, Rob

Re: Monks in Laos
I agree in what you say, I think the moment was magic one, we kind of whispered, and almost did not dare holding the camera on the clear, so maybe I am attached more to the moment, as indeed the blurred monks disturb the picture.
Any how it was great trip. |

Re: Monks in Laos
Hi RSG
Yes, Laos was a wonderful, mostly unspoiled place so far. The monks go out every morning and the people, both local and tourists "make merit" by giving them rice or food. What the monks don't use for themselves, they give to the poor. There are literally hundreds of monasteries in the country because nearly every family sends their sons to one for a little while. So after seeing your picture, I just had to show you mine, probably on the same street in Luang Prabang. skip
