Moss

Was walking around the garden last week, and some nice moss on a rock caught my eye. I fetched my camera and snapped a few pics with the help of an extension tube.

I love the colours, but felt the photo was missing something.. so I had another go yesterday armed with a plant mister to give a dewy effect. Some of the heads had also turned red and some had gone to seed. Added something to the colour I think

wow!

the dof on these shots is amazing, and the detail is stunning on the close up of the water droplet, cnt help thinking a couple of them are a little soft though, you manually focusing or AF?

They're not as soft as they look on here. Like MyPix says, some of it is compression.

I was focussing manually, and I had a hell of a job doing it too! Came upstairs to load the first lot onto the computer and found that they were a fraction of a milimetre out of focus, so I had to go back and take some more. Highly frustrating! I was even using a manfrotto slidey head thing (pic below), which I stole off my Dad so that I didn't have to keep moving the tripod back and forth all the time. All that focussing made my eyes go funny. Couldn't see a thing when I looked away from the eyepiece. Eventually, the sun went in and I had to give up! lol

Thanks for the comments
