Mucky Water
I took this picture along a rural country road. It is dark and I left it that way. Kinda was a creepy place. Let me know what you think and what can be done to make it better.

Re: Mucky Water
In colour I feel it is a little flat and a bit dark and to me this is absolutely screaming MONO CONVERSION!
![]() Can I see it in mono please Mary? Can I? Can I? |

Re: Mucky Water
![]() Ok Sweet Sac here is the picture in mono. I have to agree it looks better. I probably could have done a better job in editing, but was rushed. I left the cloud streak in the background. Probably should have removed it. Hope you like this one better. ~~~~Mary |

Re: Mucky Water
Yeah I think its better in mono but I am still feeling its a little flat.
Here's my take on it...wanted to get the darkness of the tree to dominate the shot but not sure how well it came out. ![]() |

Re: Mucky Water
I agree that B/W looks like the way to go - not much of interest in the colour
![]() B/W, gradient layer (to make sky a little more interesting and lighten FG), burn back overbright plants along bottom border |

Re: Mucky Water
I only had 60kb to work with, and you know what editing does to things.....
edit: and only at the top where the gradient is... |

Re: Mucky Water
I like the monos but didn't want to dismiss the colour totally, although as is it is rather flat. I have had a little play, just duplicating and blending modes, nothing exciting, and there is certainly a stronger image in there, even in colour.
See what you think ![]() Cheers, Rob ![]() |

Re: Mucky Water
Rob can you explain duplicating? I don't know how to do that. I did play with this picture and got something like what you got, but wasn't to sure about it. I like how the shadows play in the front with the wheat field in the background.
I thought that maybe when I did something like what you did it might look to rich in color. I know mine sure looks flat compaired to yours ![]() |
