My idea of Bokeh

Know that the generally accepted definition is the OOF area of an image but I look at it one stage further: the character that individual lenses will give objects, especially light, in the OOF areas (which is why a lens might be described as one that has good Bokeh)

Re: My idea of Bokeh

I like that type of bowkay.
The Japanese however prefer softer outlines and always go for rounded apertures where possible.

This is how I consider bokeh. I don't take pictures entirely out of focus, but like the way different lenses react to different situations regarding light and shadow!!!

Aboslutly great picture Mark, good colors in the background. When I saw your pic I dug into my harddrive and found this picture, the textures from the light and aperture settings can make great backgrounds. For me, you can tell I like texture.

Re: My idea of Bokeh

i like both combined .together the japenese softer outlines plus good soft light effects in a Bokeh (out of focus area). I think alot of people make the mistake of bokeh being a good macro image. Have definately learnt a lot on Bokeh , and totally enjoy viewing all the different Bokeh images that appear on different sites.
