New York in Las Vegas

I took this shot at a very busy intersection in Las Vegas while I was driving with a friend of mine. I just rolled down my window and took the shot. So the perspective is a little off. if I slightly rotate the image left, it'll crop out all the advertisements on the bottom. Should I do that, or keep it the same?
Thank you

Angle is not a great problem for me. It's what you get when going beyond wide, and lining up on cityscapes something has to give sometime. The exaggerated perspective works well. Perhaps it would have been better if you could have jumped out of the car to get a better shot: fill the frame a bit more by getting slightly closer, keeping the perspective and avoiding the street sign + pole.

Re: New York in Las Vegas

For a snatched shot I think it is not bad at all I like the colours. Shame that the bottom is cut off though, looks like you could heve included more at the bottom without loosing any of the buildings.

I'm quite a fan of the converging verticals that wide angle lenses give you, but it might be worth correcting them or trying several different amounts of correction. You could find that as it is works best.

Can't see if Liberty is totally vertical, but using a grid in your editing software will show you. It might need a little rotate for this reason and it is probably worth doing this before you do any correction of the converging verticals.

You could remove the post on the right hand side easily enough.

I like the colours to this. Agree for a grab its good.

I do find that sign annoying personally. If you could of been on foot a better angle for straitening if you wished would probably of been possible. I like the ads myself in the shot, again having more time you'd no doubt of got them in fully.

Re: New York in Las Vegas

you could go on for hours debating what could be,what should i have done better, etc etc .the fact is, this is the shot, unless you are going back to the same point on foot nothing much you can do..
You could crop, you could manipulate with PS to get the perfect shot ....... but for me, it is what it is, a snap shot, and I like it i like the colours, i like the snap shot view point , i like the fact you are sticking you head out a car window with a camera and having fun .....
regards

Re: New York in Las Vegas

You done well here, I have been here and taken this picture just like other thousands of photographers! Where this scores over mine is you have a great sky, my sky is just deep blue, for me though if this picture was mine, at the taking stage (I know it was a grab shot) I would have included more of the lamp standard with the Street sign on or remove the lamp standard altogether, overall though its a lovely picture of a place which everybody has had a go at! And often failed, I had a great 7 days on the strip and took some really good pictures, my best shoots were at dusk just has the daylight started to fade. Well done!

The red arrow and the liberty statue say leave well enough alone. Wow Las Vegas, a photographers daydream that ends only when you fall asleep
