Re: Night Shot

I really like the colours, exposure and content, but I'm not sure about the composition. Getting the moon in has compromised the bottom and left hand side of the building, and I wonder if a portrait set up of the central and left hand part of the building would have been better.

Just a personal thing, I think the inner black border would be better if it were thinner.

Re: Night Shot

Image works well Sawdust but forget the moon thing, it looks contrived. The fact is, to get an image of a building like that in the evening you have used a slow shutter speed and contray to common misconception, taking a photo of the moon requires a very short shutter speed. Most of my best shots of the moon, showing lots of detail, have been taken at about 1/500th or even 1/1000th second. Hence on a shot like this, the moon would be a burnt out blob!

If you really must put a moon in your shot (I have done that too!) at least put it the right way up as some smart-**** git like me is bound to notice Mares Tranquilitatum is in the wrong place

The fact is, this picture doesn't need any help, it works very well as it is. Good lighting, nice colours, pleasant angular composition all go to making an interesting picture

Cheers,
Rob
