Night-Shot.
I'm looking to create a nice night shot and at the moment this is what I come up with. Would like some more light-trails for a sense of motion with only the memorial being still...
Anyway, C&C would be very welcome. ![]() |

You could always go to a busy road with a dark background, take the shot and merge the light trails in! There again, I'm wondering just how much work there would be involved....... What about angling camera further to the right as that road looks to be busier? |

Re: Night-Shot.
My only grouse is that the sky looks as if it belongs to a different image.

Re: Night-Shot.
I like the composition, and the colours + sharp detail are great
The top half of the image is very dark. I know it's a night shot, but the FG is well lit, and the lighting seems to end at the clock face, above which is suddenly dark. I'm not talking about the sky being dark, I mean the buildings. Although this does give a sense of perspective + of looking up (thanks to your viewpoint), I still find this effect distracting. <pause> Been studying your image, trying to figure out what was bugging me. Have now realised that I agree with Stepheno ... the sky looks in fact to be an infrared sky, which doesn't fit with the rest of the image. Please correct me if I'm wrong with that theory. It's the clouds - I wouldn't expect to be able to see clouds in a sky this dark. Looks like you've added an infrared sky to an HDR image; that combination doesn't work so well for me, I don't think Although it did get me looking at your image for a good long while, which can't be a bad thing ![]()

Re: Night-Shot.
Thanks for the replys.
Hmm, the sky. The image is a composite consisting of 3 combined, one was super long to get the clouds as I was thinking a plain dark sky might be a bit dull. I'll try a dark sky to have a look. |

Re: Night-Shot.
I think you would have been better standing outside Ryries pub which would be behind you and to the right. It would have gave you the light trails from 4 different directions as well as keeping the clock in view.
