I can certainly see why you took the shot Spherop, there is plenty of light, texture, lines, etc to find a striking image. If I am honest i think this is a bit tightly cropped and the points of interest are all over to the right leaving the left side empty so the balance is affected.

I think there is a lot more you can do with this subject. Did you take any more?

I really like this shot but I thnk it could be better, if you lose the pole and wire it would improve it and id be interested to see it in black and white as think there would be some great tones

I'm not quite sure what the focus should be though and my eye is wandering over the shot. There's definitely a lot of great texture in there and, like Gary, I'd be interested to see a mono version!

I appreciate all the critique. Rob, I did take more, but this was the one I liked above the rest. Probably though because I tend to like imbalance - though I appreciate your comments much. Grew up surrounded by abstract expressionist art.

As for all the requests for mono - here's that.

Gary - here's a stab at cropping ... I really can't see cropping to where the window's getting chopped. So this is just partial ...without wire basically.

That is a fascinating comment that you grew up around abstract expressionist art. It certainly shows in this image.

I think that this kind of art revels in the richness of the feeling, and there does not necessariy have to be a focal point. So from that standpoint, this works incredibly well. And as I look at it, I really like the leaning to the right!

The depth of the textures and colors is wonderful, and I really like the contrast of the roughness of the wall vs. the smoothness of the window panes.

It is a rather different image than most of those posted here, and I really like the challenge of looking at it. WTG. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

You have obviously soaked up your exposure to art, and so, there is a universe out there in which to expand.

I have no freaking idea what I just said, but I hope that you get the idea

Thanks for taking the time to convert to mono, as for getting rid of the wire, you do not have to crop the imagem either use the clone tool or patch tool in photoshop cs if you have it.

i love the feedback "universe within which to expand" - great concept for anyone doing anything artisitic. if interested - search for 'dilexi gallery' my father's gallery '58-71.

i do have ps and will explore the cloning approach - will be a good process.

i just love approaching photography from a perspective of seeing what can be created inside of a square - so it's an exploration of form, texture, light. sometimes for me - an abstraction of a 'real thing' can create multiple meanings, and embody many possible conversations. so i do love photographs which entice you to explore them, have mystery - and yet are wonderful visually. maybe i steer away from what i fear will be too much balance in some cases which might lead to a stale beauty rather than an enigmatic one. i suppose trying to find that balance is always the key and a lifelong pursuit

Here is a mono version with the wire and support post removed. I'm not sure I like the mono (!), rusting patterns and colours work well in these sort of shots and the mono does not do them justice.
