Re: One from Sunday
Take some of that wall from the left and stitch it on the right of the figure to change the comp. Then you have it!

Re: One from Sunday
Agree....he needs space to his left into which to look.
I guess that this image can conjure up some emotion, but I am having a bit of a problem getting into it. Also, here in the US, you must have a release before you can display an image or you are liable. What about the UK? skip |

Re: One from Sunday
Only if you sell an image for commercial use here Skip do you need a model release.
It can get a bit more complicated than that but thats just a general statement, as its only for my personal portfolio its fine. |

Re: One from Sunday
I agree add some wall to the right. Then again....if left alone like this I see something else. Makes the view wonder as to what the man is looking at, what is next to him, why was he turning that way. Which the viewer would get anyway if you added the wall more to the right of him. But as is...why did the photographer let the picture stop there? What was the reason? Life puts up barriers which we don't see...etc.
I know, I'm not making sense and maybe getting to deep into my thoughts about this picture. I like it----and I'm the only one who likes it this way Must be marching to the beat of the different drummer today

Re: One from Sunday
I think you still need a model release if the subject could have had a reasonable expectation of privacy when you took the pic... but not so in public. I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that's the situation in the UK.
But I agree it's an interesting shot and I'd probably try to graft some wall to the right as others have suggested.

Re: One from Sunday
actually, the way i understand it is that you do not "need" by law a model release form in this country, and if the image was taken in a public place then there is no reasonable expectation of privacy so therefore you are not infringing anyones "right to privacy" which by the way is not a UK law its an EU law.
There are different laws up here to down south tho so i would check up. Morally of course its always a good idea to get a model release form but realistically its not always possible. As long as you are making it plain you are taking a picture and give people a chance to remove themselves then you can take the photo and do whatever you like with it that includes use it commercially. In scotland you can take a photograph of anything as long as you are on public land when doing so. if you go onto private property and there is a no photography policy then as soon as you take a shot you are legally trespassing. just as an aside as well, its amazing how many people think its illegal to take photographs of children! In scotland under the childrens act, a child of 13 is deemed able to give their own permission as long as they understand what is being asked of them. so in essence as long as you tell the child you are taking their photograph and the child says yep thats ok, it doesnt matter one hoot what their parents say ( as long as the kid is 13 or over). fi Fi |
