Organ Pipes

Spotted a beam of light highlighting some organ pipes in Salisbury Cathedral and took this shot. Was surprised at how well it came out. I did cool down the WB to add the blue tint because I felt that although it was less faithful, it added a certain something to the image.

Looking forward to any C&C.

Re: Organ Pipes

Really like this and think your tweak of the WB perfect to bring out the cool (in a temperature sense!) steel pipes. Only thing that slightly detracts is the uncorrected perspective - not a big deal, but did this to show an alternative view!

Re: Organ Pipes

Thanks for the comments.

I can see that the perspective correction does make everything more linear, but is it unusual that I actually prefer the uncorrected perspective? I suppose it depends on the type of effect you're trying to achieve.

I'd be interested to hear what other people feel works best in this image.

I often prefer uncorrected perspective/distortion - as you say it depends on your preference. I thought it more appropriate because the image is very simple and correction kind of emphasised that simplicity (whereas a shot of the whole organ I might well go for uncorrected! )

Re: Organ Pipes

Nice shot, some good, subtle details in there. I like the tone change, the perspective doesn't bother me either way.

cheers
