Pink Lady Slipper

I'm new to DSLR... (Canon 40D with 100mm 2.8f macro lens) and I took this photograph of a Pink Lady Slipper... A very rare wild flower here in Pennsylvania... Any suggestions on how I might improve this photo? I mentioned before that I new, so please go easy on me... Thanks

I would have probably removed the dead leaf that is hanging directly over the front of the flower before taking the picture. Did you try taking the shot from different angles?

dispite appearences, the brown leaf on the flower is not dead... And yes, I did that the photograph at different angles... this angle seemed the best...

I know how dificult it can be to find the best angle for a shot like this. All in all I like it a lot. Good exposure and sharp.

The only critism I have would be the out of focus yellow in the back ground. It is too bright and distracting. I would have removed it when I was taking the shot if that was possible otherwise try to get rid of it in Photoshop or what ever editor you use.
