Pink Lily, I think,lol

I was out yesterday shooting for "worldphotoday" and come across this purdy flower. I"m not one to know flower's names and all but I believe it's a Lily, lol. Seeing as I'm in the "critique" forum, let me have it!

very nice jewel, but boost the colours a little, your doing what i do and not paying attention to the brightness and contrast and saturation

the criticisms of your technique i have would be...the dark sections on the right, maybe reframe so the flower covers the whole frame, then you can play around with the depth of field when focusing on the bit in the middle thing

It's a tulip But like eosD says, try increasing the saturation, maybe the contrast and see what happens.

Tuliops are a pain to shoot face on like that. You either get the pattern inside in focus or you get the top of the stamen, seldom both unless you stop right down. Try maybe shooting from the side next time. This isn't great but maybe it'll show what I mean

That's a tulip?,lol :P Shows you how much I know about the names of flowers. Anyway I'll try to pay more attention to that matt, thanks. I don't have anything like photoshop yet, just the "Picture Project" software that came with the camera. I can do some of that in there I suppose. I don't play around with that too much though. Reason being is when I have touched up a photo playing around with the saturation and contrast, it just ends up looking fake or overprocessed. I'll figure it out in due time I suppose. Dod I saw your flower pic and I get your point, thanks, and yes tulips are a pain to shoot, but their so beautiful when done right! Again thanks for the comments guys.
Regards, jules.

If you go to "Photo Enhance " mode you should be able to find the modes your looking for. Alternatively download something like Raw Shooters essential, huge control available for free

The possible catch is that it only works on RAW files hense its name, but other than that (which is what it was designed for) there is no catch and many of us here use this excellent piece of software on a daily basis. BTW if you are not shooting RAW yet..give it a try
