Re: Portrait
Hey Dust
Yup...the lad is a fine looking chap. This was probably taken at midday when the sun was pretty high. That is why you have impressive shadows around the eyes, under the chin and on the neck. These are generally not good. There may not be other choices, but the hours from about 10am to 3 or 4pm are not good times for most outdoor photos because of the harsh shadows. However, if you have no choice, then a fill flash is good to put some light into the shadowed areas. The second thing here, is that it might be a better image if you were closer, had more face and less body filling the frame. Faces are always more expressive and more interesting than bodies, unless of course the body is an unclothed young lady .Also placing him a bit off center would increase the interest. The focus and exposure are great. Hope this helps. skip |

Re: Portrait
Great shot, the wet hair and face lift it from being a straightforward shot and provide a bit of interest.
Good angle, a reflector or a bit of fill flash would help the shadows but I don't think it's much to worry about. It would perhaps be nice if there was a bit more space on the RHS for him to look into. cheers Dan |
